I always wanted to carve a guitar for Hendrix when he was alive. For some reason, I thought roses muting into flames would be good for him. I never got the chance.

But 30 years later, I got this Fender Custom Voo Doo Child Strat ... a guitar Fender made for Jimi.. (though I doubt he ever played it)... it has a backwards peghead and upside down wired pickups... so a righty can play lefty... and I guess a lefty can play righty.

The first Jimi face I carved didn't look the way I wanted it to look... so I chopped it out and inset a piece of hard rock maple so I could get the detail I wanted without fear of breakage. I experimented with lots of pickguard designs... roses, lotus, peace symbols, etc... and finally came up with ...

his name...DUH!

I love this one... and it plays as good as it looks.
