Jim contacted me by email to have a guitar carved for his wife for Christmas
His wife is a big "DOORS" fan. She loves Jim Morrison. I fooled around with some basic layouts and waited for the guitar.
He bought a used Yamaha and shipped it out to me in California. The Yamaha was not in good shape. ;)
It had been frankensteined to accomodate active pickups but there were no actives on board. The pots and wiring were a mess, The bridge had a broken saddle and the wood was some asian version of basswood... very soft and brittle for carving.
I love a challenge, though. The piece came out pretty good considering with new pots and wiring and made it home for Christmas.
Puritan Pine stain, 4 coats of lacquer. Completed Dec. 7, 2016.
